Assuming it is legal to do so where you live, growing your own weed really is the ultimate no-brainer. Irrespective of the time and effort needed to get the job done, the pay-off on the other side of the whole thing is simply insane.

Technically speaking, all you need is a bag of premium cannabis seeds, a pot of compost and a sunny windowsill to get the job done. If planning on growing indoors, stick with fast-flowering auto seeds and you could be harvesting your first haul in a matter of weeks.

Feel free to go nuts with all the latest hydro gear and accessories if you like, but it really isn’t necessary for a simple indoor grow.

Still not convinced?

You will be - here are five reasons why you absolutely must pull your finger out and start growing your own weed (legally) this spring:

1. It’s Therapeutic

Right off the bat, growing weed is neither a chore nor an inconvenience. You’ll soon find that every minute you dedicate to the cause is an absolute pleasure. There’s something ridiculously therapeutic about growing plants from scratch - especially when you get to smoke the results! Watching cannabis plants grow from seeds you germinated yourself is satisfying on a level you have to experience to understand.

Though it goes without saying that once you’ve tasted this particular high, there’s no going back!

2. It’s Easy as Pie

There are countless cannabis strains around these days that more or less do all the hard work on your behalf. Just as long as you germinate them properly and pop them in decent soil, there’s almost nothing else to do. Shy of an occasional splash of water, and a dose of nutrients here and there if looking to get the job done right. You can make growing weed as complex or simple as you like, depending on how much time and energy you have to dedicate to the cause.

If you always prefer an easy ride where available, growing weed really is a walk in the park.

3. It’s Safe

By safe in this instance, we mean the fact that you get to control everything your plants are and aren’t exposed to. If you don’t particularly appreciate the thought of smoking toxic pesticides, no worries - just don’t use them. If you’re not convinced about the weird and wonderful treatments and growth stimulators used by some mass producers, again - steer clear of them.

From seed to harvest, you control everything that happens and you know everything that’s in your plants…and the weed you’ll soon be smoking.

4. It’s Intoxicatingly Aromatic

If you’re considering growing weed at home, you’re obviously a big fan of the stuff. Which also probably means you cannot get enough of its deeply intoxicatingly fragrance. When you grow weed at home, you benefit from the glorious stink of fresh cannabis wafting through your home on a 24/7 basis.

Discretion isn’t particularly easy to maintain when growing weed indoors, but still - you’re not breaking the law, are you?

5. It’s Way, WAY Cheaper

Last but not least, growing your own cannabis is guaranteed to save you significant sums of cash long-term. Homegrown weed is astronomically cheaper than the store bought stuff. It’s worth bearing in mind that a single seed can result in a plant that could easily get you 350g of top-shelf weed.

Given the average price of around $10 to $15 per gram in various parts of the US, that’s a seriously valuable haul from a seed that may have cost you $5 to buy in the first place.
