Just as mysterious as it is potent and popular, OG Kush is one of the most commonly referenced strains across cannabis culture. In fact, this is one of the most highly esteemed strains we have seen. We aren’t quite sure of the exact lineage of this strain, but we do know that Chemdawg is part of the mix. 

This Indica-dominant strain has high THC content - often up to 23%. Its potency and OG status make it a common choice among seasoned users, ready to grow one of the best strains around. However, we find that beginner growers don’t tend to have the same level of success with this strain as more experienced growers. 

Bud Basics

OG Kush buds are widely known for having a unique scent and flavor to them - making them easy to recognize and distinguish in the wild. The buds on this strain have a rich and earthy aroma to them with nodes of pine and lemon in the mix. The unique terpene profile consisting of myrcene, limonene, and caryophyllene all contribute to this aroma, which is also echoed in the taste. 

The effects of this strain are just as great as advertised - this strain is an OG for a reason! This Indica dominant strain has great mood-boosting effects on the onset, with a boost of creativity and inspiration. The back end of the effects tends to be a little more full-body, and great for helping problems like stress, chronic pain, anxiety, and insomnia. 

However, this is not usually for new users as the effects can be powerful and enveloping, making it a not-so-ideal first experience for beginner users. Typically, this is best for experienced users who know what they are dealing with. 

Growing OG Kush Regular Seeds

Growing this strain is not usually that easy. Even experienced growers remark that it is especially sensitive to environmental conditions. As a result, we recommend growing this strain in a highly controlled indoor environment. You should also be experienced in growing a wide variety of strains. 

Another factor to keep in mind is that these are regular seeds, and may come with both male and female seeds in your shipment. Remember that only feminized seeds will produce the OG Kush buds you will want to consume! 

Try to keep temperatures range from 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and maintain humidity levels around 40-50% to prevent mold and mildew. You should also practice topping, low-stress training, and add in a balanced diet of cannabis nutrients. Pay extra attention to calcium and magnesium supplements to prevent common problems. 

When grown well, expect at least 18 ounces when it comes time to harvest. However, this can quickly get volatile upwards or downwards, depending on how successful your growing operation was.
