Marijuana Seeds for Beginners

Yes, autoflower seeds are generally easier for first-time growers because they have short life cycles, flower automatically based on age, and need no light schedule change. With feminized seeds, the plants need a switch from an 18-hour to a 12-hour light schedule to trigger flowering. Both types produce female-only plants.

Autoflowering marijuana seeds take an average of 8 to 10 weeks from seed to harvest. Feminized photoperiod cannabis seeds take 12 to 16 weeks from seed to harvest depending on vegetative time and the strain's flowering period. Indica-dominant strains flower faster than sativa-dominant strains regardless of seed type.

Most first-time growers typically start with three or four cannabis seeds rather than a full tent's worth. Fewer plants mean each one gets closer attention, which matters most in the first few weeks after germination. The right number ultimately depends on your available space, equipment, and your local plant-count laws.
